Originally, the vessel was a 36-foot gillnetter with a limited cargo capacity. The client contracted Nav Arc Marine to come up with a design to increase the internal hold capacity, this involved increasing the breadth, length, and depth of the vessel.

Ferry Wheelhouse Design

Nav Arc Marine successfully obtained a contract to design a new wheelhouse for the Sidney Spit ferry. Following the development of a conceptual design, Nav Arc Marine proceeded to create production design drawings. The construction of the wheelhouse took place at Reyse Marine in Sidney, BC.

Nav Arc Marine secured a contract to design an aluminum ramp measuring 8 feet in width and 8 feet in length. The ramp is designed to support the weight of a fully loaded 1-ton truck, which can weigh up to 15,500 lbs.
